Painting on the Edge

Painting on the Edge is an annual art show put on by the Federation of Canadian Artists. It is the one open show they hold each year. I wanted to do this painting again, this time with a red underpainting. I think it has worked all right.

I like the moodiness and have called it Winter Sailing. I have submitted this one, plus two of the watercolours of glass. They get lots of submissions, so don’t hold out great hopes of getting accepted, but like to give it a try anyway.

Our painting groups are going to be busy in the next while. Escape Artists will have a Friday night/Saturday afternoon show in late August to coincide with an opening at the Saskatchewan Craft Council on Broadway. We will be having a fall show again, likely at a new venue. More details to come later as this is a new development. Very mysterious!

Prairie River Artists have a show at Circle Park galleries right after my solo show there. So I really need to get painting! I am taking the month of July off from volunteering, and plan to really focus on painting. I have a number of ideas jogging around in my head – just have to start getting them organized and get reference material together for it. Now that the garden is essentially finished, there will just be maintenance to do, and fewer distractions. Plus, I should be able to sit out on the deck and work away, which I love.
