Just as things were moving along, I succumbed to a nasty virus last week. Every few years I seem to get one of these things and it really lays me low for a couple of weeks. Slowly on the mend now, but still prone to severe coughing fits, which will likely last some time yet, based on prior experience. Anyway, I now have six of the little paintings done and plan to start on one today, probably after a little nap. The energy levels are pretty low still.

I am having fun thinking up names for these little pieces. ‘Brown egg, no ham’ seems appropriate for one of them. I often see a funny name for things, but rather doubt most people would get or appreciate it. Most have obscure references to really old stuff. Fun thinking up the silly ones though.

I keep submitting paintings for juried shows, but haven’t been accepted yet. I will keep on trying though. You never know, maybe one day something will get in. At first I thought I would get discouraged with rejections, but you know, it just is based on so many subjective factors that you can’t really predict what the outcome will be. If you send in realistic work and the judge is an abstract painter, well, you wonder. Anyway, fun to try, and you won’t get a yes if you don’t. Like buying the lottery ticket.

Well, maybe I’ll get started now, before lunch, just to get the motivation going. Can nap when I run out of steam.
