In like a lamb

eight

Well, March came in cold and sunny, and it is slowly getting milder. I truly hope that is the last of the really cold weather. But if the old saying is right, we will probably get a big snow storm at the end of the month.

I feel though that I am finally making some painting progress. I have started on my group of little paintings. They will be 4 x 4 inches on canvas. I have four done now, and want to do five more. It is fun doing these small ones as I can set them up and paint from the actual object, not from a photo. I put them here beside the succulent paintings, which are 6 x 6 inches, to give a sense of scale.

For our upcoming sale, I have a number of larger paintings done already, so I am going to focus on some smaller ones. I want to get the oils done first of course, so they will be dry in time. Then I can do a couple of water colours. I will use the summer to work on some larger pieces. If the weather is good, I can sit out on the back deck and paint, which is so pleasant. And it will be better fume-wise for a large painting to work out in the fresh air. I can open my window though.

I wonder what it would be like to do an ‘Art in the Garden’ event. If the weather was cooperative, it would probably be very nice to do. There is lots of fence where things could be hung, or on the garage, or easels around the garden. Another artist in town organized an event like this in her garden and it was really very nice. Something to think about anyway.

Well, supper looms – wish I had a cook.
