Been a while

Here is it is, the beginning of March, finally. February always does go by quickly, so now we see what March brings, usually the most snow.

I have been working on a couple of new paintings. This is the one of peaches in progress. The plate I used is beside it, but the peaches are long gone of course. Taking a photo is pretty useful, I’ve discovered. I always manage to see things that need fixing, and I see a couple of spots that I’ll work on later. It needs to dry a bit now before I can do any more.

Also, I’ve been practicing away on the piano. With this year being Chopin’s 200th birthday, our piano group is working on his music. This is one of two that I have been working on. This the the Nocturne Op 69 no 2. I have been working away on it, on and off for about 3 years. It was way above my capabilities when I started, but it is starting to come together. Page 3, shown here, is the hardest because of the  runs and trills. I still find it amazing that I can play all those notes (at least most of the time now).

For our recital next week I’m going to be playing the f minor waltz. I learned a simple version of it a couple of years ago, so am now working on the original, which is a bit trickier, but not too bad. I really love Chopin. Will have to look for another one to work on over the summer.

Coming up at the end of the month is Gardenscape and I was accepted to participate in the art show again this year. Then in April our annual group art show. I hope we get good weather this year for it. The past couple have been so-so. Warm would be welcome, but not likely.

I know that time will suddenly fly by and I should probably start making lists. I am planning to do another calendar for the art show, so will have to start getting that underway so that it gets printed and bound in time. The show is actually a couple of weeks sooner that before, so must remember that.

I am glad to see the last of February. It was a stressful month, not only because of my friend Gale dying so suddenly, but because Ariane has a bad month too. She is on the mend now, so I am relieved about that. Lets hope for a great spring! BC is already well underway, so maybe we will get an early one too. Winter started early enough, so it can leave any time now.

Well, off to put some more paint on a new painting, then that’s it for tonight. Tomorrow, yoga, then paint, paint, paint.
